Mahogany wall timepiece for stations or administrations, circa 1840, signed John Hildyard, Woodbridge
Mahogany case maintained at the rear by four large wooden pins. A hinged door on the right allows for inspection, another hinged door with lock and key at the bottom allows access to the pendulum. Cast and turned bezel with convex glass and moulded mahogany outer.
Convex painted dial with Roman numerals for the hours, spade-style blued steel hands.
Single gut fusee movement with “bottle” plates united by four turned pillars, recoil anchor escapement. Autonomy 8 days.
