Oddities

Clocks

This clock is not peculiar for its movement,
which is nothing out of the ordinary: "mouvement
de Paris" by Vincenti & Co, Brocot escapement
and countwheel strike.

It's the case that is unusual; it is nothing less
than the whole mantel piece, made of Belgian Black
Slate.

This quaint little ensemble is in the library
of a small privately-owned château in the South
of Belgium.

The whole building and its furnishing all date
from the Napoleon III period (late XIXth Century)
and has always been rigorously maintained in
that style and condition.
Even the electrics date from that era....
