Skeleton Clocks

Large brass and ebonised wood skeleton clock, very likely a
masterpiece or exhibition piece, Liège, circa 1830.
Mouvement suspended from the two long conical columns surmounted
by armillary spheres, "églomisé" glass dial with gilt arabic
numerals and transparent centre allowing for a visible movement,
6 turned conical feet on balls.
Front knife-edge suspension and rear pin-wheel escapement with
60 pins placed alternatively on either side of the escape wheel,
very ingenious grill pendulum with counterweight on top, allowing
it to beat the seconds, the Sun mask with eyes rolling left to
right along with the movement of the swing.
Power by the weight of a massive brass-cased weight with pulley
placed at the rear of the clock, and sliding safely between two
high steel bars. Blued steel hands with seconds-beating
center-sweeping. Two weeks autonomy, good precision.
Height 62cm
